Philippine Mango Drying Project

2025-03-07 15:28:04

1、 Project Background

The main mango producing areas in the Philippines, such as Palawan and Mindanao, have a high yield season from June to October each year. However, due to traditional drying techniques (coal burning/sun drying), the processing capacity is insufficient, resulting in a unsold rate of over 30% for fresh fruits and significant fluctuations in farmers’ income.

Local enterprises generally face the following pain points:

① Capacity bottleneck: The daily processing capacity of small workshops is only 1-2 tons, and the peak season order gap reaches 50%.

② Unstable quality: High temperature burning or uneven humidity leads to a high scrap rate of products, making it difficult to pass EU organic certification.

2、 Solution

Based on the customer’s daily production capacity of 10 tons/day, our Jinlu dryer has designed a customized 24 car air source drying room for the customer. The heat source uses an air source heat pump, which consumes only 30% of the energy used in coal-fired drying. The temperature control accuracy is set in 10 stages, with ± 1 ℃ segmented regulation (50 ℃ -70 ℃), retaining the original sweetness and fiber taste of mangoes. The temperature and humidity are intelligently and accurately set, and the moisture content of the finished product is ≤ 12% (EU standard ≤ 13%).

3、 Implementation results

① Economic benefits: Our cooperative grower Jose’s daily processing capacity has increased from 3 tons to 10 tons, and the processing cycle has been shortened by 60%.

② Cost optimization: Annual fuel cost savings of approximately 1.5 million yuan (equivalent to RMB 180000), with an investment payback period of only 4 months.

③ Reduce labor costs: Only one operator is needed to manage the entire process, saving 70% of manpower compared to traditional workshops.

④ Premium sales: After obtaining EU organic certification, the unit price of the product increased by 50%, and the order volume for exports to Germany and the Netherlands increased by 200%.

⑤ Social benefits: Absorbing stable supply of raw materials from surrounding farmers, creating dozens of job opportunities (including sorting, transportation, and other links). The loss rate of fresh fruits has been reduced from 35% to 5%, helping farmers increase their annual income by 25%.

4、 Customer Testimony

In the past, we used to worry about the shortage of workers and outdated equipment during the mango season. Now, this drying room has completely changed the situation! With a daily output of 10 tons, it fully meets the demand of European orders, and the air energy technology makes the product zero pollution. The customer repurchase rate has increased threefold!
